Cosmetic and some structural damage occurred. Under initial inspection from reports mostly charring occurred throughout the first few rafters and considerable charring on the gable end and cladding.
Under instructions from the owners of the property, all timber with charring must be replaced like for like and any other damaged sheet metal roofing to be replaced if damaged.
Due to the nature of the build our team moved quickly to ensure no additional damage may occur to the property due to the uncovering of sections to rip out and replace. Whilst fighting the spring weather, stripping one side at a time and replacing seemed to be the most viable option. Propping one side off of the main ceiling line to ensure that no further subsidence of the preexisting roof was to occur. Due to the house still being occupied and fully furnished getting it water tight was our primary concern. With a very fast turn around for the roof of three days to strip 4.5m, replace and sheet again, the pressure began to subside.
With only the cosmetic items left the team focused on erasing the events from previous weeks from the building. Stripping back and replacing the charred gable end and cladding renewing any damaged timber in sight. The last port of call was a small piece of decking which was the source of the initial problem.
Archer Carpentry were instructed to replaced fire damaged timber and sheet metal roofing to restore the owner’s property to the original condition.
